RMIT Vocational Education - building design

Fly Fishing Precinct Design Project
Red Tag Fly Fishing and RMIT Vocational Education - building design students have embarked on a multi year collaboration resulting in an annual student Red Tag Fly Fishing precinct design project.
In March, some eighty 2nd year building design students from RMIT will be at the Red Tag Casting pools in Fairfield, to begin developing design solutions for the precinct Clubrooms.
The design project forms part of their course grade in commercial design.
The students project duration from initial briefing, site recording, concept, development and presentation is 10 weeks.

This will be the first time RMIT Vocational Education - building design students have tackled the Fly Fishing precinct pavilion concept, but it is not the program's first community scheme. Previously, building design students have undertaken projects, in Castlemaine, Kyneton, Chirnside Park, Monbulk and Kallista. |
This is the first iteration of student projects, and it is envisaged that this task will run for a further 2 or 3 years, until the project brief and course content has been dialled in, and all options explored.
It is hoped that these student projects can be utilised as a visualisation tool for ongoing discussions around the development of the site, and ultimately a home for Red Tag Fly Fishers.
The connection to RMIT's Vocational Education building design program is straight forward. The design course lead teacher is a member of Red Tag.
Final presentations to members will be at the club on Wednesday June 11th. Everyone is welcome to attend to see what the students have created. Your comments and feedback on the night would be appreciated by all.
The winning schemes will be included in a later edition of the Red Tag newsletter and updated on the Red Tag website.
