Child Safe Code of Conduct
At Red Tag Fly Fishers, we are committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of all children participating in our activities. In line with our Inclusion Statement and in compliance with Victorian legislation, we have adopted the following Child-Safe Code of Conduct to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all.
As a member, coach, instructor, volunteer, or any person engaging with children in our programs, we are all responsible for safeguarding children. By following this Code of Conduct, we demonstrate our collective commitment to child safety.
Expectations of All Members, Coaches, Instructors, and Volunteers:
Our social media apps (for example, Team App, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) are essential for internal communication and connecting with the public. Whether engaging with fellow club members in person, participating in online events, or using social media platforms, this code of conduct applies to all members.

1. Promote a Safe and Respectful Environment:
- Treat all children with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of their background, culture, or identity.
- Provide a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for children to engage and participate.
2. Prevent Harm:
- Do not engage in any form of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behaviour, including physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse.
- Report any concerns or disclosures regarding child abuse or harm to the designated safeguarding officer immediately.
3. Maintain Boundaries:
- Interactions with children should always be appropriate and professional.
- Avoid any physical contact that could be construed as inappropriate. Do not engage in any behaviour that could be perceived as grooming or inappropriate.
4. Ensure Supervision and Accountability:
- Always ensure that children are adequately supervised during activities, both on and off-site, and that all activities are age-appropriate.
- Maintain a safe environment for all children, ensuring they are supervised by an adult during transition times, before, during, and after activities.
5. Promote Equality and Inclusivity:
- Ensure that all children, regardless of their background or abilities, have equal access to our programs and activities.
- Challenge any discriminatory, bullying, or exclusionary behaviour and promote a culture of kindness and respect.
6. Ensure Safe Transport and Access:
- Ensure that children are safely transported to and from activities, with proper parental consent and in line with our transport policies.
- Respect privacy and ensure that any personal information about children is kept confidential.
7. Compliance with Legislation:
- Adhere to all relevant child protection laws, including Victorian child-safe standards, and participate in child protection training as required.
- Ensure that all activities involving children are risk-assessed and that any necessary precautions are taken to mitigate potential risks.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Any concerns, breaches, or disclosures of abuse must be reported immediately to the President, Secretary or Committee Member. Adhere to guidelines on physical contact with children and maintain privacy when necessary.
- All concerns will be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and acted upon in line with relevant legislative requirements and organisational procedures.
By adhering to this Child-Safe Code of Conduct, we are collectively responsible for ensuring that children are able to participate in our activities free from harm. The Red Tag Fly Fishers organisation is dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where children can learn, grow, and enjoy their time with us.
